Venezuelan leader Yon Goicoechea addressed United States President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday, asserting that most Venezuelans would support any political, diplomatic and military initiative that helps remove Nicolás Maduro from power.

Goiecoechea, in an interview with journalist Idania Chirinos, maintained that today it is legitimate to request international support to free Venezuela, since it is held hostage by the weapons of international crime.

He also stated that “every minute counts. In Venezuela lives are lost every day because of the criminal dictatorship headed by Nicolás Maduro and Diosdado Cabello”

In addition, he condemned the regime’s recent attempts to strip him, Leopoldo López and anyone who publicly expresses support for the U.S. military actions in the Caribbean against the Cartel de los Soles headed by Maduro and Diosdado Cabello of their nationality

“Neither Maduro, nor Diosdado, nor anyone can take away my nationality. They call me a traitor, but they are the traitors to the homeland, who for 26 years have destroyed a country and have made Venezuela a sanctuary for international crime,” he said.

The leader concluded by stating that the struggle for freedom will not stop and that national and international pressure are key to protecting Venezuelans and ensuring a democratic transition.
